A few weeks ago, I had a fun conversation with Canvas Rebel about the path I’ve taken as a creator, entrepreneur, and joy-chaser.
It wasn’t a typical “how I built this” story—it was about the quiet revolutions that have shaped my life and life's work.
Instead of just posting the link, I wanted to share the top 10 takeaways that might spark something in you, in case you're too busy to read the full story.
Take five to read the notes below. I guarantee there's gold for you here.
1. Innovation Starts Within The biggest innovation of my life wasn’t an app, product, or business model. It was an inner revolution—dropping out of college to follow freedom and entrepreneurship catalyzed a new possibility for my life path. The struggles of entrepreneurship led me inward through a spiritual awakening and sense of purpose. College was teaching me to get a job, but I wanted freedom.
The struggles I have faced over the years have been MY struggles for my dreams, rather than somebody else's—and that's the difference-maker.
We are the masters of our destiny and when we veer off the beaten path, we open up incredible new possibilities for ourselves and our future.
2. Make Your Business Your Art I used to keep my creativity and business in separate silos. But when I invited them to work together, my business became a living, breathing creative expression. That shift changed everything.
My work feels more like play. It stands out in the sea of sameness. It feels authentically like me.
Instead of robotically checking things off a to-do list, I get to make Majik—and you can too! That is exactly what we do for our services at Majik Media -- help YOU make Majik too.
3. You Don’t Need Social Media to Thrive I walked away from social media in 2016 and haven’t looked back. Everyone thought it would be the end. Turns out, it was the beginning of something far more aligned. I now build through leveraging relationships, licensing, and word-of-mouth magic. And my work days are WAY shorter.
I can honestly say—if you walked away from social media, toured ONE signature workshop, focused on creating licensable assets and taught more often—you'd make way more money, work way less, and have way more fun. So if you're struggling with making money and marketing, it honestly doesn't have to be this hard. Let's get you into alignment!
4. Follow Joy, Not Just Strategy Joy has become my compass. Not vanity metrics. Not trends. Not growth at all costs. Just the simple, radical question: Does this light me up?
If the answer is yes, I lean into it.
If the answer is no, I find another way... because there is a better way!
5. Marketing Can Be Soulful & Really Really Fun Whether I’m touring workshops, collaborating with friends, organizing flashmob Chi Ball events or producing comedy ads with my son, I build brands through creative play and real connection—not performance metrics.
You can build a thriving business from a handful of great relationships if you set up the right business model and marketing strategy.
This has taken me 20+ years to figure out and I'd love to help you too!
6. Forget Building a Following. Build a Village. I call it the Village-Minded Approach. Instead of chasing thousands of followers, I cultivate deep relationships with a hand full of people I love working with. And from that village, everything grows.
Business can feel so impersonal... but I love when it feels the opposite.
That's why I charge more money for my Majik Mind membership. I want it to be intimate. I want to get to know YOU and your business. I want to understand your dreams and aspirations. I want to hear your successes and struggles.
In a massive community, that's not possible. In an intimate container, it is the only way to work.
Our Majik Mind coaching sessions are small and mighty. We have time to be conversational, to talk about AI and to learn from each other.
It's more than just coaching.
7. Majik Kids = Art that Pays Fairly Our Majik Kids publishing company isn’t just about telling magical stories—it’s about creating an economy where artists are valued. We give 50% of revenue to creators. That’s not just fair—it’s fuel for a new kind of business culture.
What are things that feel out of alignment or just plain wrong to you? How can you reimagine those things?
Majik Kids' Fair Pay Publishing model was inspired by the fact that the publishing industry sucks. They take 90–95% of the revenue, do barely any marketing, and aren't in your corner... whereas Majik Kids offers fair pay and has a built-in marketing & licensing engine that is intended to generate wealth for our artist community so they can continue devoting themselves to the art that makes all the majik.
You too can reimagine business models & what's possible!

8. Play Chi Ball is a Revolutionary Game It started as a fun thing to do with friends. Now it’s becoming a movement—bringing people together in public spaces, off screens, into their bodies, and into joyful connection.
One of our taglines is, "Make friends with strangers" because that is what happens every single time we pull out a Chi Ball and start playing.
Seeing how much people truly want to connect and play gives me great hope for our future! Right now we are launching "Chi Ball Neighborhood Leagues" across North America to bring local communities together in a joyful way. Want to learn more? Reach out to hello@playchiball.com
9. Burnout Was a Turning Point I burned out after early success with online courses and meditation libraries. That breakdown led me to a new question: What if business felt like play? That inquiry gave birth to everything that followed.
If you're feeling burnt out or uninspired by your work, it's not because you are failing—it’s because it's time to evolve, innovate, and bring back a new creative spark. Need help talking through the transformation that is seeking to be expressed through you and your work?

10. Raising the Spiritometer is My Mission Everything I do—whether I’m coaching creators, producing kids' stories, or playing Chi Ball—is in service to this one idea: Let’s raise the Spiritometer on Planet Earth by spreading more joy to the world.
When I wake up in the morning, this is what I think of.
When I pray on my morning walks, this is what I pray for.

Empowering you to do your great work in the world and live your dream lifestyle directly supports my mission of Raising the Spiritometer...
