As we work toward building our dreams, it’s easy to get caught up in the stress and uncertainty that come with learning new skills and growing our businesses. In these moments, it can be hard to see the bigger picture.
I recently did a creative exercise that helped me reconnect with my long-term vision, and I want to share it with you. It’s about tapping into your future self—the version of you 25 to 30 years from now—who has already overcome the challenges you're facing today. This future self has achieved the success you’re working toward and is now enjoying the rewards.
The exercise is simple: take 10-12 minutes to write a letter to your present self from your future self’s perspective. Imagine they’ve already figured out how to overcome the struggles you're currently facing and ask them for guidance. Whether it’s advice on growing your business, overcoming fear, or finding your purpose, let your future self offer the wisdom you need.
When I did this, I realized I had shifted from embodying the "warrior archetype" in my younger years, focusing on force and determination, to the "wizard archetype" in my 40s, manifesting my vision with more ease. This exercise gave me some valuable clarity, and I’m sure it will do the same for you.
Take some time today to reflect and see what comes through in your letter from the future. It could provide valuable insights as you move forward on your journey.
