In a recent Majik Mind coaching call we had an inspiring conversation about the Power of Partnerships: Turning No into Yes and Building Relationships That Scale
Listen, I want to give you as much fuel for your business to soar in 2025 and so I really encourage you to watch, listen or read THIS and all of the other emails I've sent you in the last week. This is the stuff that is going to change the game for you and the work you're here to do.
Today, I give a bunch of examples of successful strategic partnerships that have recently come to close.
Signature Workshops
In 2023, we had 57 people register for the Signature Workshop training. This year we had 110. That growth came from two places:
a) A strategic partnership with Tad Hargrave at Marketing for Hippies, where we offered a summer series around signature workshops, as well as had him show up and co-teach 2/8 sessions.
b) Delivering more than 20 of my own Thriving in Business without Social Media signature workshops this year on a bunch of virtual stages.
c) The rolling early bird pricing experiment we did, where we raised the price by $100/month until we got to the full price, as a creative way to encourage early sign-ups -- and gosh darn it worked great!
If I had not done these two things, we would not have come close to the level of success we did this year.
Majik Kids is Leveraging Relationships Too:
At our children's audio entertainment company - Majik Kids, we’ve had an extraordinary year—launching our Majik Kids App, creating viral comedy ads, and reaching over 2 million views on YouTube. A third of our subscriptions now come directly through these videos.
But here’s the truth: acquiring individual customers is hard, slow work. It’s a grind. That’s why I’ve leaned into a strategy I’ve always believed in: partnerships. Real, meaningful collaborations can transform your business, and today, I want to show you how.
Dreaming Big with Partnerships
Our Majik Kids' goal this year was to secure 12 partnerships. We’re halfway there, having closed three new deals last week alone.
These wins didn’t come easy; they came through persistence, creativity, and a willingness to challenge the initial “no” responses we received from some of them.
1. Turning a “No” into a “Yes” with Aura
I have been licensing my meditations on Aura's App for a few years and have generated some substantial royalties as a result.
I recently applied to have Majik Kids stories, music and meditation library inside the app as well because they reach millions of subscribers -- and that would be good for business!
Initially, they rejected us because they don’t allow voice actors on their platform, fearing legal issues. But instead of taking the “no,” I reached out directly to their CEO. I explained how we own all rights to our audio stories, music library & meditations and assured them there was no risk involved. Last night, they reversed their decision, turning their “no” into a resounding “yes.”
2. A $100,000 Dinner with an Investor
Last year, we had an extremely stressful rock bottom moment financially while investing in our app and comedy ad productions. I essentially came to the end of our runway and the app was nowhere near ready to launch. We also had one of the biggest, best comedy ads agencies ready and excited to work with us. I needed to figure something out FAST in order to keep Majik Kids' doors open. This was one of the most stressful periods of my career.
When our one promising lead on an investor initially declined, I decided reached out and asked if I could take him out to dinner, so we could at least get to know each other better - and maybe he'd have some advice for me to keep things moving forward.
That one-hour dinner meeting turned into a four-hour inspiring conversation, which led to a $100,000 investment and endless mentorship from somebody I deeply respect and value.
3. Earth Cubs Collaboration
Majik Kids is currently producing an epic 100-minute audio story featuring 26 voice actors. The story is about a forest fire that unites predator and prey in survival.
I pitched this story to Earth Cubs, an organization in 7,000 schools in the UK and spreading quickly - like the wild fire in our story.
After several meetings, they enthusiastically agreed to partner, helping us reach tens of thousands of families and schools.
4. Homeschooling Network and StoryPhones
We’ve are also trying out a partnership with a big homeschooling network in Canada and the U.S called Schoolio.
They’ll feature our stories, meditations, and activities, promoting them heavily as a trial run. If things work out, then we'll become an ongoing part of their homeschooling curriculum -- which would get us into thousands of family's lives.
On top of that, we closed a deal with StoryPhones—storytelling headphones sold in thousands of stores around the globe.
We are also in full swing in our partnership with SoulShoppe.org which has been such a profitable, fruitful, meaningful collaboration!
Some of these deals took over a year to finalize, but the payoff is and will continue to be massive.
The Art of Creative Outreach
When it comes to finding partners - specifically with your Signature Workshop -- there is the standard way I teach in the Signature Workshop Training (now available as work-at-your-pace training).
However, after a coaching session recently, I have come up with a new strategy that we are experimenting with. Here’s the strategy:
Leverage Existing Relationships: If you have a podcast, invite guests who align with your audience. After a great episode, pitch them directly for collaboration or hosting a workshop.
Refine Your List: We identified 25 influential individuals with large audiences and reached out to invite them onto our podcast. This bypassed gatekeepers and opened direct communication with decision-makers.
Experiment and Adjust: Even small tweaks in your outreach can make a difference. After implementing this strategy, we secured podcast signups within 24 hours.
Lessons from Partnerships
Partnerships are about persistence, creativity, and clarity.
They’re about aligning your unique offerings with networks that need what you provide. For example, one of our partnerships this year has already generated over $60,000 in revenue—without additional effort on our part. We simply found the leverage point that mutually benefitted all parties involved.
Here’s the key: Focus on win-win collaborations. Build relationships where everyone feels they’re part of something valuable and exciting.
What You Can Do Today?
Take two minutes right now.
Write down as many names as possible of individuals or organizations you’d love to partner with. Think about who you've met or know from the last 5, 10, 15 years. Who do you love and respect? Who has complimentary skills or audiences that overlap? Be creative. Think outside the box. In order for your work to thrive you NEED other people.
Think of podcasts, workshops, events, or collaborations that align with your goals. Think both locally and online.
WRite out all the names that come to mind in 2 minutes. These names are the starting point for your next big moves.
Why You Should Start a Podcast or YouTube Channel
Creating a podcast or YouTube channel is an excellent way to build relationships and showcase your expertise.
It’s not about authority; it’s about refining your message and connecting with your audience. Plus, it’s an easy way to invite new potential partners into your world by interviewing them and setting the stage for future collaborations.
Pro Tip: Use the same content for both platforms. Convert your MP3 podcast episodes into MP4 videos for YouTube. It’s a simple strategy to maximize your reach.
Closing Thoughts
Success isn’t about doing everything alone.
It’s about leveraging relationships and leaning into partnerships. Whether it’s a single investor, a meditation app, or an organization in 7,000 schools, partnerships amplify your impact and bring your dreams within reach. So get out there. Be bold. Make the ask. And watch what happens when you align with others to create magic.
I'd love to hear your own thoughts, ideas and reflections about this topic. REPLY to this email if you're inspired to share something that came up.
