Freedom over Safety: Navigating the Wild Ride of Being an Entrepreneur
How to trust your instincts, pivot with purpose, and build a business that embodies freedom.
Navigating the Entrepreneurial Journey: Balancing Freedom and Safety
In the dynamic realm of entrepreneurship, the clash between the desire for safety and the pursuit of freedom are constantly coming to a head. This is a journey filled with uncertainties, risks, and the need to reconcile conflicting needs.
The dichotomy is real—you want the security of a stable path, but entrepreneurship demands a willingness to embrace the unknown & take risks... lots of risks... again and again and again!
The Paradox of Safety and Independence
Embarking on your entrepreneurial journey means accepting the unending inherent risks that come with the territory. There are no guarantees, no certainties.
The very essence of entrepreneurship lies in navigating the unpredictable waters, where success is never a guarantee. However when you do succeed as an entrepreneur, the rewards are absolutely incredible and so satisfying.
Reflecting on nearly two decades of entrepreneurial experience, I can safely say that I have and still am constantly put in the position to cultivate my inner courage and take those first scary steps.
This last two years has been intense while building Majik Kids & The Majik Kids App. $300,000ish invested and two years to build what we've created. But the vision is clear & strong. The why feels like my soul's work. And the work is a reward in and of itself. So I keep trusting and stepping forward through the unending unknown.
The willingness to trust myself, my instincts and the visions I am receiving has led to the creation of a business and lifestyle that embodies freedom, boundless creativity, fulfilment and plenty of choice.
I am an embodied Creator fulfilling my destiny.
The Importance of Soul Searching
A successful entrepreneurial journey involves crafting something beautiful and desirable. It's about meeting a need, setting a fair price, and creating value. Bonus points if you can make your life's work a work of art.
The journey is far from linear, and the ability to pivot can become paramount at times. When the current approach falters, quick adaptation guided by instincts can lead to the breakthroughs you wake up at night praying for. I know it has for me time and time again.
I have managed to overcome many financial crunches, embracing inspiration and acting swiftly in those moments of surrender.
If you are currently facing any internal or external challenges—I encourage you to take some time to sit, walk or journal with yourself and do that deep Soul-Searching work, where you ask the critical questions about what comes next, where to focus your efforts, and what undiscovered ideas may lead you to the success you seek.
This requires shutting away distractions and attuning to your inner, higher, intuitive self.
If you don't check in and do this deep Soul Work, then you can end up in a direction that is out of alignment with where you really want your life and career to go. If you do this regularly, then you will ensure your next idea aligns with what you want in life. (easier said than done)
Embracing the Unknown: Not for the Faint of Heart
Courage, in entrepreneurship, is essential. This is scary shit!
Following your instincts, even when the path is unclear, requires a leap of faith. You develop trust in yourself and your visions the more times you take action on an intuitive nudge. Trusting your instincts is essential.
This path is not for the faint of heart and can be incredibly overwhelming at times. I deal with stress well, but I have navigated some shitshows over the years. I am grateful to still be moving fowl with strength, clarity, wisdom and humour.
If you're not up for that, then save yourself the stress and heart-ache. Instead, seek out employment with a values & mission-aligned company.
Not everybody is cracked up to be a crazy entrepreneur... and having a job you enjoy can provide that sense of security and stability, free from the stress and weight that comes from running your own show and not guaranteeing a paycheque for the time you're investing.
The Entrepreneurial Game: No Guarantees, Only Persistence
Entrepreneurship is a spiritual path to self mastery—one where there are no guarantees... however the payoffs for your success can be astronomically higher than if you work for a company.
You must build discipline. You increase your resiliency the more times you follow through on the things you said you'd do. Your skills increase with every day that passes and every idea you turn into a reality.
Unlike massive corporations with lengthy planning cycles, entrepreneurs must move swiftly, embracing both failure and success.
The call to action is clear: keep going, keep building, and adapt rapidly to the ever-changing landscape.
Together We Stand: A Message to Fellow Warriors.
To those navigating and committed to your entrepreneurial quest—take a moment to breathe. Acknowledge the progress made, appreciate the steps taken, and trust the instincts that have guided your journey this far.
The entrepreneurial path, though challenging, does not have to be a solitary journey. Finding fellow creators on the journey can be an invaluable resource, inspiration and sanity-saver.
Entrepreneurship is more creative and fulfilling when it's a collective endeavor. And the strength lies in our unity. The call to tap into the knowledge and wisdom of the community is a reminder that, in this journey, no one stands alone. Fellow entrepreneurs are allies, offering support, wisdom, feedback and creativity.
Together, as a community, we become stronger, wiser, and more brilliant than we could ever be alone. In the unpredictable landscape of entrepreneurship, the power of unity becomes the cornerstone of success.
I stand with you. I believe in you. I honour your YES to be doing this work.
In my opinion, struggling and fighting for something you believe in and want in your life is a far better life to live than one that leaves you feeling empty and unfulfilled. The struggle can be real, but it is worth every ounce of blood, sweat and tears.
