As you read this, I'm high up in the mountains, surrounded by a crew of dudes and dogs—off the grid, exploring, and taking some much-needed reset time. I hope you've got something adventurous planned in the days, weeks, or months ahead. Having a big adventure on the horizon is always something to look forward to!
Normally, my Majik Mind Community and I would be gathering for our "Schedule Your Success" session, but today is a bit different. So, I thought I'd share my usual planning process for the week. It's straightforward, but for those of you who like to peek into the routines of high-output creators, this will give you insight into how I organize my weeks.
I consistently ask the same questions—though sometimes in different ways:
RELATIONSHIPS: Which relationships will I reach out to, cultivate, engage with, or seek out this week? Business and life are all about relationships. I aim to come up with at least three new names to book meetings with, reach out to for potential Signature Workshop hosting, or spark partnerships. When old connections pop into my mind, I always make an effort to reach out to them via email, text or an outta the blue phone call. This often delights and surprises... leading to rekindled friendships or business alliances. If there are more than three names you can come up with, great, but I always ensure I'm initiating at least three new conversations leading to positive outcomes for all.
ADDING VALUE: What content will I create to bring value to my audience and give them more reasons to follow my work? These days, I aim to send 2-3 newsletters per week. You may think that's a lot, but think of the average creator on Social Media... they may post three times per day. I don't do social, so for me, three times a week feels great. It's been a blast coming up with stories and articles/videos like this one on a more regular basis. And you know what? I'm getting WAY more replies to my emails than ever before. Super cool side effect from sharing more!
My creative process for content creation involves either:
a) Writing an article and then recording a video/podcast of me reading it, OR
b) Turning snippets of my coaching sessions into engaging content that I post on my Substack, YouTube Channel & Podcast. Changing lives is the name of the game!
MONETIZATION: What will I do to generate revenue this week? How many 15-minute coaching sessions can I offer? If I'm leading a "Thriving in Business without Social Media" workshop, how can I improve my pitch? Are there proposals I need to think about and send? Any new grants or investor leads I need to follow up with or apply for? How can I book a few more "First 15-Minutes are Free Coaching Sessions?" I aim to come up with at least a few actionable items to generate money.
CREATIVE PROJECTS: What long-term project would feel great if I tended to it this week? It could be working on a new Majik Kids story, prepping slides for my next Signature Workshop session, or one of my favorites—writing comedy commercials. These are typically the things that get pushed aside when business demands more. I aim to have at least an hour or more per week devoted to these creative projects, which bring joy and feed into the ultimate future I'm intending to create.
SELF CARE: I'm pretty darn good at taking care of my body and mind. I do breathwork and stretching before playing sunrise golf (these days, I have to jog the course due to limited daylight). I get into cold water at least once every three days. I get my butt kicked at the gym twice a week and usually work out on my own as well. What about you? Do you have disciplined rhythms and routines in your life to stay on top of your health and game? If not, block off the things you know you need to do to be at your best.
The more you're in your superhero presence and power, the more magnetic you become! People will be like, "I want some of that energy!"
BLOCK OFF YOUR TIMES: Once you've answered these questions and prioritized your tasks of the week, go through your calendar and block off times where you'll take care of these items. This ensures you show up to those time blocks fully focused on the task at hand, which makes it much harder to float around on social media or YouTube.
It also ensures you're taking care of all the things a responsible entrepreneur and creator know they need to do to become the YOU you want to be and build the life and business of your dreams.
In summary, start your Mondays with 30 minutes focused on these questions:
Who am I excited to connect with and reach out to this week?
What value am I excited to provide for my audience this week?
What ways am I excited to generate revenue for my life & business?
What creative long-term projects am I excited to give my focus to this week?
What ways am I excited to take care of my body, mind, and spirit this week?
Notice how I use "EXCITED" with each of these questions?
Focus on what excites you, and you'll come alive in ways you simply won't when you're just "doing the next thing on your list." Focus on what excites you, and your life will lead you in a magical new direction. Focus on what excites you, and all the other stuff that drains you will start to fall away because you'll become a better, more electric version of yourself. Focusing on what excites you will have you jumping out of bed before the alarm goes off in the morning, ready to get the party started... I know from experience! I have built my career around following the path of what excites me and you can and should too (if you're not already).
Stay awesome, stay excited, and schedule your success this week. Let me know how it goes!
